I am Ms. Shapard (Ms. Shap), SMS’s PE and Wellness teacher!
My educational journey started at Western Washington University, where I graduated in 2023 with a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in Education. I continued at Central Washington University, where I completed my Master of Arts in Teaching in the summer of 2025.
Growing up, I spent every afternoon after school in the dance studio, happily dedicating hours to learning and practicing different styles. I loved every moment, and dance became more than just a passion. It was where I discovered discipline, creativity, and perseverance, lessons that still inspire the way I teach and move today. Over the years, I trained in many styles, but rhythmic tap and contemporary remain my favorites. I also developed a love for traditional sports, especially golf, soccer, and tennis.
As a teacher, I enjoy bringing energy and variety to my classes through games and activities that build dexterity, discipline, communication, and cooperation. I believe physical education is about more than learning sports. It is about growing in teamwork, respect, perseverance, and confidence while caring for our bodies, minds, and spirits. My greatest joy is helping students discover activities they truly enjoy so they can build healthy habits that will last a lifetime.
I love being a part of the SMS community!
